Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate the therapy initiation day of CC as an ovulatory drug, either on day 3 or day 5 of the menstrual cycle. The study was conducted on 120 anovular infertile women categorized into two groups : Group I included 60 cases, in whom the initiation of CC started on day 3 and group II included 60 cases, in whom the initiation of CC started on day 5. The results showed no statistical difference between both groups as regard age, duration of infertility and types of infertility. The percentage of ovulatory cycles in group II was 65% and in group II 70%, with no significant difference between both groups. The study concluded that clomiphene citrate therapy can be initiated on the 3rd or 5th days of the menstrual cycle without an effect on the therapeutic outcome. Monitoring of each therapeutic cycle for folliculogenesis, cervical mucus and luteal function is essential.
