Abstract
Schistosomiasis is a achronic and debilitating parasitic disease affecting 200 million people through out the world and responsible for 800,000 death per year. Despite the advent of modern control schemes and the development of a highly effective drug (Praziquantel)with minimal side effects, chemo-therapy may not be the ultimate answer to the problem of schistosomiasis control, because reinfection is common in drug-treated endemic individuals Particularlyin younger age groups)necessitating continued repeated therapy and thusw indifinite surveillance and long term funding.
