Abstract

The aim of this investigation were to study the effect of the first irrigation date, and fertilizer treatments on growth yield, yield components and fiber traits of cotton variety Giza 89. Moreover, to study the effect of the water regime on growth yield, yield components and fiber traits of cotton variety Giza 89.The first experiment: included three periods i.e. 20, 30 and 40 days from planting irrigation time to first irrigation time in a separate experiment. Each experiment of the first irrigation included ten of fertilizers treatments. The statistical analyses of obtained results manifest that all growth traits application and all yield and its components. The first irrigation after 40 days from planting resulted in the highest values of all growth traits. application the first irrigation after 30 days from planting gave the highest values of all yield and yield components under study. Concerning, the effect of first irrigation date on fiber traits i.e. fiber length at 2.5% span length, fiber fineness, fiber strength and uniformity ratio %. First irrigation date had insignificantly effect on fiber length at 2.5% span length and fiber fineness in the two growing seasons. Noteworthy, application the first irrigation after 40 days from planting gave the highest values of fiber strength and uniformity ratio. With respect to the effect of fertilizer treatments on all growth traits, yield and its components and fiber traits under study, it was highly significant in the two seasons of this study. Maximum means of all studied traits were produced from fertilizing cotton plants with Organic fertilizer + bio-fertilizer + 66 % from recommended NPK in both seasons under the circumstance of this study. The second experiment: study included skipping of one or two irrigations starting from first irrigation still five irrigation. The statistical analyses of obtained results manifest that all growth and all yield and its components traits. Giving all irrigation except the second irrigation gave the highest values of all growth and yield traits. Concerning, the effect of water regime on fiber Traits i.e. fiber length at 2.5% span length, fiber fineness, fiber strength and uniformity ratio %. Water regime significant effect on all fiber traits in the two growing seasons. Except fiber fineness had an insignificantly effect by water regime in the first season. Noteworthy, control treatment gave the highest values of all fiber traits except fiber length at 2.5% span length gave the highest values with giving all irrigation except the second irrigation treatment in the two seasons. from obtained data in this study, it can be concluded that applying first irrigation after 30 days from planting date, regular irrigation every 15- 20 days and applying to soil bio-fertizer (EM) at rate 5liter/fed., organic-fertilizer at rate 20 kg N/fed. in addition to application of 2/3NPK from recommended may be maximize the productivity of cotton variety Giza 89 under the environmental conditions of Dakahlia.
