Abstract The present work is concerned with the foraminiferal microbiostratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous in the area lying between lalitudes 29? 30’ and 30? N and longitudes 32? 40’& 33? 20’ E in westcentral Sinai (fig . 1). This area includes two main districts , the Gabal El Raha which is defined approximately by Lat. 29? 53’ & 29? 55’ N and long . 32? 55’ & 33? 4’ E and Qalit El Gindi which extends approximately between Lat 29? 50’ &.29? 52’ N and long .33? 9’ & 33? 12’ E. For this aim two representative stratigraphic sections were selected and extensively examined at the southern wall of the main bend within Wadi El Raha and at the south western fornt of Qalit El Gindi massive. The present study treated mainly the foraminiferal content , biostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous successions in the foermentioned area ; the lithologies , rock units differentiation, paleoecology, and paleoenvironmental interpretations are generally studied. Also the basal segment of the Lower Tertiary succession in the two studied localities was studied from all these a spects for defining the C-T boundary |
