Abstract

This study was designed aiming at studying the severity of insight in different psychotic disorders, to find changes of insight over time and finding some of the clinical and psychological correlates of insight in different psychotic disorders.The study group consisted of one hundred psychotic patients 1- The main conclusions were; Impaired insight seems to be an important feature of schizophrenia. 2- Mood disorder depression is associated with high level of insight. 3- In acute cases, insight in mania is impaired as in schizophrenia. 4- Beck cognitive insight scale seems to be a useful instrument for measuring psychotic patient’s perspective about their anomalous experiences. 5- Cognitive insight appears to be high in depressed patients. 6- Impaired insight is not likely to be state dependent in mania
