Abstract
The present work aims to study the plasma atrial natriuretic peptide
in chronic renal failure patients under different treatment modalities and its
correlation with kidney function.
One of the important studies in physiology and medicine is the
discovery of natriuretic granules in the atria of the heart (De Bold, 1979)
and it was shown that intravenous injection of atrial extract in an
anaesthetized rat produced considerable natriuresis (Jin-H . et aI., 1996).
But later this atrial extract was established and it has been named atrial
natriuretic factor.
