Abstract
This investigation was carried out at the experimental farm and biotechnology laboratory of Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt, during the three growing seasons of 2005, 2006 and 2007. The objectives of this investigation were to study: The magnitudes of genotypic variation and both of general and specific combining abilities through Line x Tester analysis as outlined by Kempthorne (1957), the behavior of these materials in a hybrid rice breeding programme, and Genetic analysis of fertility restoration in hybrid rice for the two hybrid combinations IR69625A/ Giza 178R and G46A/ Giza 178R from two different sterile sources, Wild Abortive (WA) and Gambiaca in 2007 season, estimates of X2, heterosis effects, inbreeding depression, potence ratio, heritability and expected genetic advance. In the growing season 2006, different characters were studied. The selection has been done for the best two hybrids (IR69625A/ Giza 178R and G46A/ Giza 178R) from the F1 data in 2006 season from two different sterility sources. The aim of the selection is study the inheritance of restoration genes in F2 populations in 2007 season. In the growing season 2007, different characters were studied
