Abstract The objective of this investigation is to study the strength and the behavior of composite sandwich panel slabs under flexural loads. Static bending machine was used to provide this process. The thesis aims to clarify the advantages of using concrete sandwich panels in our constructions, and how it provides some benefits compared to others having other types of sandwich slabs. This thesis aims also to create a lightweight high strength composite panel by the available materials in our country. Heat transfer of sandwich panels is also studied using steady state method, and the available devices to calculate the thermal conductivity of panels. To achieve the purposes of this thesis, the test program was divided into two parts; the first part is concerned with crating sandwich panels with a lot of variables and testing the main mechanical properties of them, and in the other one, heat transfer was measured. However, in the first part the test program was arranged to determine the effect of core material type, core thickness, hollow parts direction, hollow percentages, plastic fiber in concrete mix and its percentages, shear connectors and its shape, face material, face thickness, and percentage of face which covered the core, on the sandwich panel flexural strength and its behavior. |
