Abstract Chromatographic assessment of major urinary sex hormones or their metabolites with comprehensive study of hormonal imbalance in hepatosPlenic schistosomiasis was the aim of this study. In the present study 37 patients with hepatosplenic bilharzianis were selected of Whom 19 were males and I8 were females with age ranging from 26 to 48 years. The bilharzial cases were 12 cases without ascites; 13 cases with premature ascites and 12 cases with terminal ascites. Besides, 20 normal subjects (10 males and 10 females) were thoroughly chosen as a reference group with matched age and absent history of bilharzial hepatic fibrosis, mutritional deficiencies or history of jaundice. All cases were subjected to clinical examination and investigations comprising urine and stool analysis; complete blood picture; blood urea; creatinine clearance, serum proteins; S .bilirubin. S. transaminases S. alkaline phosphates and HBSAg test. |
