Abstract This investigation was planned to determine the amounts of heterosis and to evaluate the types of gen action in intraspecific hybrids of G. barb dense L. For that purpose , the two parental varieties Giza 67 and the Russian variety u-5904 were used. The two parents were involved in two different mating design known as Masher’s scaling test and Comstock and Robinson, experiment III . The resulted generations and progenies were evaluated to locations at sakha and Mansoura . Data were recorded on yield component traits and lint quality traits. I-Heterosis A-Yield and yield component traits I- heterosis determined from the mid – parent a-At saka, significant amounts of heterosis of 58.08% , 52.12% and 5.39% were obtained for seed cotton yield per plant , number of boils per plant and lint percentage , respectively . The f1 hybrid also exceeded the mid-parent values for the other traits , although the estimated differences were not significant. b-The estimated values of heterosis were significant for seed cotton yield per plant and number of boils per plant , while they were significant for the other traits at Mansoura. |
