Abstract • Portal hypertension is the most important cause of splenomegaly, but is splenomegaly is not always present with portal hypertension. • Splenomegaly may be an early sighn of serious diseases as lymphomas, leukemias and infilterative disorders, and it affects prognosis and management. • Splenomegaly may be acomplication of some infectious diseases. • Hypersplenism may be a complication of portal hypertension, some infectios diseases and some hematological disorders. Hyposplenism amy also occur. • To avoid complications of splenectomy; hypersplenism could be treated by other modern methods as partial splenic embolization, partial splenectomy and splenic irradiation. Aim of the work A trial for exploration of the functional and structural changes that could occur in the spleen in patients with different liver diseases and the impacts of these changes on the patient’s health. |
