Abstract The present investigation was carried out at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University in 1984/85 and 1986/87 seasons. The first study was carried out to investigate the effect of some growth regulators on different field bean varieties and lines. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with four replications. The main plots contained three treatments of growth substances while the subplots contained 24 different varieties of field beans. The growth substances used in this study were as follows: .1Ethrel (2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid) at 500 mg/L. .2Alar (2,2-Dirnethyl hydrazide) at 1500 mg/L. for comparison growth regulators were sprayed at the onset of first flowering. Field bean varieties used in this study are listed in Table (3). The second study was carried out to investigate the influence of irrigation frequency and plant population density on the growth and yield of faba bean (c.v. Giza 3). The experiments were laid out in split-plot design with four replications. The main plots were occupied with three irrigation frequencies. |
