Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at the experimental station, Fac. of Agric., Mansoura Univ., during 1995/96 and 1996/97 growing seasons to study the effect of levels and times of nitrogen application, foliar spraying with urea and their combinations on growth, yield and yield components as well as quality of sugar beat (Bela vulgaris, L.), variety ”Kwamira” . A split-split plot design with four replications was used. The main plots were assigned to the following three nitrogen levels (N):- (A) 1- 50 kg N/fad 2- 70 kg N/fad 3- 90 kg N/fad The sub plots were assigned to the following three times of nitrogen applications:- (B) 1- Y, N dose before the first irrigation (BFI) + Y, N dose before the second irrigation (BSI) 2- 1/2 N (BFI) + before the third irrigation (BTl) 3- 1/3 N (BFI) + 113 N (BSI) + 113 N(BTl). Nitrogen fertilization in the from of urea (46% N) was applied as a side dressing as a previously mentioned rates and times of application. While, the sub-sub plots were occupied to the following three urea foliar spray concentrations, i.e |
