Abstract

The studied area is Located in the Eastern Desert, about 35 km. northeast of Luxor and 35 km. southeast of Qena towns on the Nile Valley. It is lIMITED by Wadi El Mathula from The North And Wadi Higaza from the south, and bounded by Latitudes 25 47 00 ” And 25 57 18 ” N, And Longitudes 32 53 15 ” and 33 00” E. It is characterized by Low to moderate relief. Ridges of G. El Qurn from the high Lands of this area. The variegated shales comprise beds of different lithological types, as shales of varying colours, brown, yellowish brown, greyish and greenish and include interbeds of sandstone of different grain sizes, sandy limestone, mudstone and sometimes conglomeratic beds. The tap is composed of Oyster limestone with fossiliferous shale intercalation, this includes from 2-5 intercalated beds.
