Abstract Leaf spot disease caused by helminthosporium turcium is the major disease of miza in Egypt, the present investigation was mainly conducted to determine the dest methods for its control. The effect of agrotechniques, screening for resistance and effect off some protectant fungicides on disease control was investigated in field experiments in two seasons 1979 and1980. The results obtained could be summarized as follows: 1- The survy mode in mize fields in 1979 and 1980 seasons showed that leaf blight was most prevalent in the northern humid governorates during septamper and October, whereas middle Egypt governorates were almost free from the disease. The severity of infection on all leaves depends largely on environmental conditions. All local varieties were highly susceptible to the disease. |
