Abstract The High Dam Lake extends for about 480 km. in both Egypt (lake Nassr)and Sudan (Lake Nubia), with an area of about 6200 km, a water volume 158 km and average depth of 25m. level at 180 m. (above M. S. L. )and with a varying width along its course from 1.5 m. at El - Madiq to about 30 km. opposite to Khor Allaqi. The Khors are side branches forming about 76% of total lake area. Among them, Khor Kalabsha which was the subject of the present study is among the largest and is subjected to wide area variations with fluctuations according to the water level. |
