Abstract Summer squash (Cucurbita pepo, L.) IS one of the economical vegetable crops all over :he world, The cultivated area in Egypt is about 65000 feddan. for fresh fruit 11995’). This area requires about 260 tons of seeds for sowing. Seed production studies on summer squash in Egypt did not have great attention although seed production is considered one of taD money product not only for sowing but also for eating seeds for fun, Seeds of squash afe rich it) protein (34%), oil {46%1, carbohydrates (10%) and fib€HS (2.8%) (Whiatker and Davis, 19621. They also have a good taste and many people all over the world eat the: ’. Therefore, it could be an export crop especially it succeeds in Egypt as a summer crop. Seed production of summer squash depends on many ecological factors such as insect activity, air temperature, soil type ard ferti!1ty program. Insect activity increases fru’t set with a full embryo seeds. Therefore. planting date was important to be studied to choose the suitable time for growing and also studying nutritional treatments to recommerd the Suitable requirements of different fertilizers tor this type of production in Dakahlia alkaline soiL The objectives of thiS work were to study the effect of two summer planting dates, NPK levels and micro nutrients (Zn, Band Mn) as foliar application on growth and seed yield of summer squash. |
