Abstract The Gulf of Aqaba coastal area is one of the most important localities for establishing new communities. The most dominating feature of the Gulf of Aqaba coastal area is its gently - sloping narrow plain which is bounded to the north and west by hills, and to the south and east by the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba. On many hill sides gravity and flash floods cause down slope movement of masses of rock fragments and sediments. The force of rock fragments moving across unstable slope or flood water passing down a valley is great. In areas where the works of man happen to stand in the way of these forces, these man’s assets become subjected to damage or complete destruction. |
