Abstract
This thesis includes an investigation on a series of Sn-base alloys, aiming to determine the effect of minor additions of some alloying elements Pb, Zn, Cu, Ag) on the stability and morphology of the intermetallic compound SbSn with particular emphasis on alloys of near peritectic composition. The theoritical part of this thesis has conducted a wide investigation of previously published papers on this subject. It gives a critical review of them, along with generalities about phase diagrams, solidification of mixture, microstructures, intermediate phases and the structure of peritectics.
