المستخلص

The vocabulary is the core of the language including concepts and meaning. Vocabulary is the base on which any individual builds his own language. The audible or readable speech is merely formation of vocabulary which is socially agreed on. So, this study aims at recognizing the effect of a strategy based on context cues theory in the development of vocabulary and some reading comprehension skills for the fifth year primary pupils. To fulfil that goal the researcher has prepared a list of vocabulary which required to be developed for the fifth year primary pupils, and he has set a test based on the previous vocabulary to test the given language. It has been studied under the supervisors to test its reliability and stability, preparing a list of comprehension reading skills based on the one prepared before and a teacher’s guide to help in teaching the reading topics by using the theory of context cues. The testing group consists of eighty pupils at the fifth year primary. It divided into tow groups; the first group uses the traditional method in dealing with the ”teaching material” the second group uses the modern method in dealing with the same material. The test conditions were all existed applying and analyzing the results. The study results proved that there is a great advancement in enriching the language and the development of the comprehension reading skills for the fifth year primary pupils when they used the strategy based on context cues theory.
