Abstract

The present study was carried out on 180 specimens represented by the testes and male genital tract of domestic fowl (Gallus domesticus); Cobb breed during the pre-and post-hatching life. Eighty five specimens were collected daily from 5th to 21st day of incubation; also ninety five specimens were collected weekly from one day-old chick to 17 week-old chick. The collected specimens were processed and treated under the normal histological technique for histological and immunohistochemical staining. The primordia of the indifferent gonads were appeared at 5 day-old chick embryo in the form of cellular swellings at the ventromedial aspect of the related mesonephros and formed mainly of mesenchymal cells and few primordial germ cells (PGCs). The sexual differentiation of the testis was occurred at 8 day-old chick embryo by distinguished seminiferous cords that tubulated at one week-old chick. The prospected rete testis was derived from loose mesenchymal cells which intervening between the primitive gonads and certain mesonephric corpuscles at 7 day-old chick embryo. The other excurrent ducts were derived from the mesonephric tubules and duct. The immunoexpression of αSMA was firstly detected in the testis of 10 day-old chick embryo with weak immunopositive reaction. While, the αSMA was firstly detected in the epididymal region at 6 week-old chick and in the ductus deferens at 20 day-old chick embryo. The cytokeratin was firstly immunoreacted in the stratum epithelialis of the testis and epididymal region at 6 week-old chick and that of the ductus deferens at 20 day-old chick embryo.
