Abstract
The present study aims at optimization of up flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) system treating industrial wastewater. Current mainstream technologies for industrial wastewater treatment in Egypt are too costly to provide a satisfactory solution for the increasing wastewater problems in rural areas. Therefore, the challenge for the coming years will be to develop integrated concepts and processes for pollution prevention and reuse of wastewater. Furthermore, the low cost of construction, low maintenance, and simplicity of operation of the UASB reactor offer additional benefits, making it a potential system for pollutant removal technology.
