Objective : The research problem in the continued increase in food gap of red meat with increased demand for meat and low production capacity, including as well as the dramatic rise in the price of red meat. Methods and results : The study aimed to identify the sources of red meat production in Egypt and study the factors affecting the production of red meat. The study found the most important factors affecting the production of red meat, which includes the number of live animals producing red meat. Conclusion : Livestock are an important element in the agricultural sector. Animal production is the main source of protein. Red meat is one of the most important food items of major concern by the state of the need to be provided by working to increase the productivity of resources used, or the encouragement of investment in production. The research problem in the continued increase in food gap of red meat with increased demand for meat and low production capacity, including as well as the dramatic rise in the price of red meat, which has led to declining per capita consumption of red meat at the local level. The study aimed to identify the sources of red meat production in Egypt and study the factors affecting the production of red meat. The study found the most important factors affecting the production of red meat, which includes the number of live animals producing red meat, the quantity available for consumption of red meat, income per capita, red meat price , alternative commodities prices and the number of the population, with increased quantity available for consumption of about 55 thousand tons in 1990 to about 1.1 million tons in 2009, a significant increase when compared to the increasing numbers of live animals (cattle - buffalo - sheep - goat - camel) and producers of red meat from about 17 thousand head in 1990 to about 20 thousand head in 2009.
