Abstract
Glucagon - like peptidel - 1 ( GLP - 1 ) is an incretin hormone secreted by L cells of the small intestine in response to nutrient ingestion . GLP - 1 has wide - ranging effects on glucose metabolism , including stimulation of insulin release , inhibition of glucagon secretion . There is growing evidence that GLP - 1 plays an important role in the cardiovascular system such as modulation of heart rate , blood pressure , vascular tone and myocardial contractility
