Abstract Two experiments were c a r r i e d out i n Sakha A g r i c u l t u r a l Research Station, Kaf r El-Shei kh Governorate, during two successive seasons 1990/91 and 1991/92. The objectives of these experiments were t o study the e f f e c t of d i f f e r e n t seeding rates and nitrogen f e r t i l i z e r s on the growth, y i e l d and i t s components, and f i b e r qua1 i t y of two local f l a x c u l t i v a r s (Linum usitatissimuni L . ) . A s p l i t - s p l i t p l o t design with f o u r r e p l i c a t e s was used, where the main p l o t s were designated t o the two f l a x c u l t i v a r s (Giza 7 and Giza 81, sub p l o t s t o four seeding rates (40, 50, 60 and 70 kg seeds/fad) and sub-sub p l o t s t o four l e v e l s o f nitrogen f e r t i l i z e r s (30, 40, 50 and 60 kg N/fad). The nitrogen used i n form of urea (46% N) appl ied before therf i r s t i r r i g a t i o n . Each plot contained 15 rows, 10 cm apart and 3 m long and i t s s i z e 4.5 m 2 . Flax seeds were sown on November, 5 and November 7 i n the f i r s t and second seasons, r e s p e c t i v e l y . All c u l t u r a l p r a c t i c e s were done as recommended f o r the region. |
