Abstract this study was designed to determine the eT9iciency of mitotic recombination as a possible assv f o r detecting mutagenicity and carcinogenicity induced by diffezlent chenicals, varying in their effects, in the nomally haploid yeast , Schizosaccharom~cesp ombe and i n the diploid yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results obtained using Sopombe showed that : .--. 1- The norad segregation (2:2) frequencp which obtained i n the cor,t;rol eqeriment with 5.88 percenk was found to disappear following IriZL’IQG treatments. In contra-st it ms obtained after treatment with different doses of endoxan, although at varying frequenies, however , on the average higher than those obtained in the cmtrol experiment . 2- The dominant u-r honozygosity adr ecessive hanozygosity declioel! steaCily by increasing I!U?XG doses while the? decreased in varying trend coaparecl with the control after treatneat znith endoxan doses . 3- Gene conversion (3D:lR or 1D:JB) did not occur either in the ccnlxvl eqeriment or after treatment with diff e r ent MWJG doses. |
