Abstract The present work included 45 cases of dry’ central perforations of the ear drum. They were selected from the ENT Outpatient Clinic of Tanta University Hospitals. The patients were identified as having a dry central perforations of variable sites and sizes. Cases of marginal or attic perforations of the tympanic membrane were excluded. The selected cases should be dry for at least three months prior to surgery. Furthermore, the mucosa of the middle ear should be pale and healthy. Th~ diagnosis was based on the Ihistory, clinical and microscopic examination and investigations.Preoperative audiometric’ assessment was done to exclude evidence of either sensorineural deafness or severe conductive deafness. Air pressure equalization test was done to evaluate the Eustachian tube function. |
