This r e s e a r c h examines t h e u t i l i z a t i o n of new t e c h n o l o g y and recommended p r a c t i c e s among c o r n f a r m e r s i n Gharbia g o v e r n o r a t e i n Egypt. It is aimed a t d e t e r m i n i n g some f a c t o r s which a f f e c t t h e u t i l i z a t i o n of a g r i c u l t u r a l t e c h n o l o g y among them J e s p e c i a l l y t h o s e f a c t o r s r e l a t e d t o f a r m e r s ’ s o c i o - economic conditoon and some r e l a t e d a c t i v i t i e s a s s o c i a t e d w i t h them and t h e i r l i n k a g e s t o t h e i r u t i l i z a t i o n l e v e l s r e g a r d i n g corn technology. The s t u d y a l s o measures t h e i r c u r r e n t l e v e l s of d i f f u s e d knowledge and i n f o r m a t i o n a b o u t t h e recommended c o r n t e c h n o l o g y , i n o r d e r t o u n d e r s t a n d t h e d i f f u s i o n r a t e s among them , c o n s e q u e n t l y and t o measure t h e i r u t i l i z a t i o n l e v e l s a s well a s r e a s o n s f o r t h e i r n o n - u t i l i z a t i o n o f c o r n techn~logy p r a c t i c e s . A two-part i n t e r v i e w q u e s t i o n n a i r e was used t o c o l l e c t d a t a from 200 f a r m e r s r e p r e s e n t t h e sample i n t h e s t u d y 2 which consists o f f a r m e r s who had l a n d i n corn and were l o c a t e d i n t h r e e d i s t r i c t s w i t h i n t h e Gharbia g o v e r n o r a t e 1 t h e sample r e p r e s e n t e d 5% of t h e t a r g e t p o p u l a t i o n of f a r m e r s i n t h e s t u d y t o t a l e d 4033. The d a t a were analyzed by t h e SPSS/PC s t a t i s t i c a l package a t t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f I l l i n o i s a t Urbana-Champaign 2 t h e United S t a t e s of America 1 i n c o l l a b o r a t i o n w i t h T a n t a U n i v e r s i t y - C o l l e g e of Agric u l t u r e a t H a f r El-Sheikh 2 Egypt. The s t a t i s t i c a l p r o c e d u r e s used i n t h e s t u d y c o n s i s t e d of f r e q u e n c y d i s t r i b u t i o n s pears son c o r r e l a t i o n c o e f f i c i e n t s ,and m u l t i p l e r e g r e s s i o n a n a l y s i s .
