Abstract

Bread made of wheat is the main diet for the Egyptian population. Therefore, wheat production was widely distributed all over the country (2, 128, 512 feddan, h 1993), Egypt is still importing a substantial amount of wheat from abroad. the imported amount was 5.7 million tons in 1993. One way of increasing production of wheat is by proper utilization of the irrigation water and increasing the efficiency of added NPK fertilization as well as Zn application to wheat crop. The objective of the present investigation was to study in field experiments the effect of irrigation water conditions, N level and K fertilization, in the presence and in the absence of zinc on wheat yield and yield components. Tie chemical composition of the plant was also estimated. Using the split-split-plot design, for two successive seasons. The main plots of the experiment were two irrigation treatments: watering at 50% and 75 % depletion of available soil moisture. The sub-plots were two potassium fertilization rates 0 K,O and 60 kg K,O/feddan, and the sub-sub-plots were five nitrogen levels, 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg Nlfeddan, in the presence and in the absence of 20 kg ZnSO,. This investigation was carried out at Sakha Agricultural Research Station during 1988-89 and 1989- 90 seasons. The results obtained during the two seasons of experimentation (1988-89 and 1989-90) were summarized in the following. 1. Irrigation conditions: 1.1. Number of irripations: The results showed that, the number of irrigations were 6 irrigations with the irrigation at 50% aud 5 irrigations with the irrigation at 75 % depletion of available soil moisture.
