Abstract Classical headache diagnosis may be obvious such as migraine and acute sinusitis. However there are less obvious etiologies that are more obscure in nature and that require astrong clinical suspicion in order to be properly diagnosed. Contact headache due to an expanded middle turbinate is an example, it is believed that contact . between an expanded middle turbinate and the nasal septum or wall may lead to stimulation of the sensory portion of the trigeminal nerve, resulting in rhinologic headache which is not due to pressure within a sinus but to an abnormal contact between similarly innervated regions of the nasal cavity. |
