Abstract The present work was conducted CMV isolated from naturally infected to identify a strain of sugar beet. Experiments were carried out to study the effect of CMV infection on sugar beet plant, effect of CMV infection at different growth stages of sugar beet plants on morphological characters and effect of fertilization with N and K on the reaction of sugar beet plants to virus infection. Results obtained could be summarized as follows: I. Identification of the virus: The virus isolated was identified according to host range symptomatology: Physical properties, modes of transmission, electron microscopy and ELISA. Thirty nine host plants belonging to seven plant families were found to be susceptible to infection with CMV studied strain. |
