Abstract This work was done to study the gross, histological and scanning electron microscopic variations of the vermiform appendix in mammalian species in a trial to fmd a relationship between these variations and feeding habits. The vermiform appendix did not fmd in all mammalian species. It was a process-like arised from the caecum. It varied in shape and function between plant-eaters and flesheaters as it had apparent digestive function in plant-eaters. This study was carried out on three groups of different mammalian species. They were human, rabbits and rats. The appendix was taken and examined for anatomical picture including shape, length and diameter. |
