Abstract Arterial thrombosis is the result of a complex interaction between the vessel wall and blood components. Initially , a primary layer of platelets adhere to the vessel surface ; subsequently, platelet platelet aggregation ensues. These platelet aggregates then interact with the coagulation system to form the characteristic red cell - fibrin body of an arterial thrombus. During the past several years, a contributasy role af plateletactivity in the pathogenesis of C.A.D. has been elucidated. Increased platelet aggregation and TXA2 release have indeed been indentified in som patients with myocardial ischemia. Platelet aggregates have frequently been found in coronary art eriesafter sudden death. |
