Abstract Cisplatin is an important clemotlerapeutic agent for treatment of several human malignancies. The major limitation in the use of cisplatin is nephrotoxicity that may occur acutely or after several courses of treatment. This nepl~rotoxic effect had been well documented clinically, but relatively few renal pathologic observations have been reported and they have been confined largely to histopatl~ologic examinations. The inechanisin of cisplatin nephrotoxicity is unknown. Nephrotoxicity had been reduced somewhat with modification of drug delivery. However, Knowledge of the inecl~anisin of cisplatin nephrotoxicity might lead to a more specific approach for its prevention. |
