Abstract In the present investigation, the urinary systems of four species of fresh water fishes namely: chrysichthyes auratus (Family Bagridae ) , Barbus bynni <Family Cyprinidae ) , Ti l a p i a nilotica and Ti l a p i a -zilli (Family ~ichLidae)w ere studied mosphoLogically, histologicahl~ra nd h.iatochemicdly end compared with the urinary systems of three species of m i n e teleostean fishea, namelyt Eginephelus alexandrinus (Fdly Serranidae), -Sparus a-uratus ( Family Sparidae) and -Nugil -capito (Family Mugilidae) . The Bead kidneys were found in both the fresh and marine water fishes, They are either closely attached with the trunk kidneys tpa in 2. or separated from them by a moderate long slendedike shaped ligaments or isthmus as in the other six species studied, The head kidneys me found either in front of the trmsverse septum as observed in all the fresh water fishes or bin the cephalic region as noticed in marine teleosts, They are either maeaive fused s t r u c t u r e as in -C. auratus separated from each other by .-9 a small space as in -B. -bgpn ji or by ca wide apace as in the rest of fishes. |
