Abstract

The results of this research concerns with observational and analytical studies to define the spectroscopic structure of the normal incidence solar radiation at selected geographical locations in Egypt. The factors (atmospheric, pollution and environmental) affecting the wavelength dependence of the received solar radiation have been defined. The results of these studies are of prime importance to match the response sensitivity of various solar technology with the recorded spectroscopic structure of the received solar radiation at the selected sites. Empirical models are constructed to estimate of the spectroscopic structure of the radiation field at the selected locations as function of atmospheric optics and pollution factors. Good agreements have been achieved between the measured and the estimated values of the various spectral bands. The errors range from 5% + (- 9)% in B_{1} and B_{5} , while 3%- 5 * 0/0 in B_{2} B_{3} and B_{4}
The thesis consists of five Chapters and a final conclusion.
Chapter 1, is a general review of the results obtained from various researches dealing with the spectroscopic structure and observations which have been taken for various spectral bands.
