Abstract

The present work was submitted to study the effect of stress in the form of immobilization and exposure to cold at 2-4°C on blood glucose, glucose production by renal cortical slices, insulin release by pancreatic pieces and rate of peripheral glucose utilization indicated by KG value in rats.
The present study included 2 categories of experiments; in vivo - in vitro category and in vivo category.
First Category (in vivo - in vitro) experiments:
This category of experiments investigated the effect of stress in the form of immobilization and exposure to cold at 2-4°C for different intervals of time on blood glucose, rate of glucose production by renal cortical slices and insulin release by pancreatic pieces.
This category involved 3 groups:
