Abstract Fashioning a successful angioaccess is essential foi- the regular hemodialysis in patients with ESRD. Autogenous AVF is much more preferable to synthetic grafts for chronic dialysis access The preoperative Duplex ultrasound scanning of the veins and arteries of the upper limbs by the operating surgeon aids much in selecting the most suitable vessels for fashioning a successful (long term) autogenous angioaccess. The present work has signified the value of duplex in planning angioaccess for chronic hemodialysis and it is our recommendation to have routine preoperative duplex of the upper limb vessels before construction of dialysis angioaccess. |
