Abstract

Acoustics is one of the oldest branches of physics- I:
originated in the study of music which probably began with Pythagoras more than 2500 years ago. Amateurs and compete: critics alike try to compare the music heard in the new hall with their recollection heard in old concert halls. Yet, the fact remains that, as in wine tasting, the subjective evaluation of eyperts is the court of last appeal. For th’-i- reason architectural acoustics is an art as wel 1 as A science.
Previous investigators showed that noise pollution in Cairo is an important component cf environmental pollution in Egypt.
Noise levels has been measured in two areas in Cairo.
. I One was representative of a new designed recreational area:
a’-l Egyptian Opera House. The other was representative of an old designed working area: Ain Shams ’Jniversity Hospital.
