Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of three various motivations on management of head control in cerebral palsied children. Thirty cerebral palsied children ranged in age from 2 to 4 years participated in this study. The study sample was divided randomly into three groups of equal number (Curiosity, Hunger and Achievement groups). The curiosity group received specific program of head control exercises by using of curiosity motivation, the hunger group received specific program of head control exercises by using of hunger motivation and the achievement group received specific program of head control exercises by using of achievement motivation, in addition to the three groups were received a traditional physical therapy program. Evaluation was carried out for each child of three groups before and after 3 months of treatment program. It included determining of head control variables (Number of head oscillations in 30 seconds, time of head stability in seconds and angle of head deviation in coronal and sagittal planes in degrees) by Auto- CAD method for video camera data.
