Abstract In the radiographic cephalometric analysis, the anteropostel relationship of the maxilla to the mandible is one of the import diagnostic criteria, particularly in the profile view, various meth have been devised to produce accurate measurements (Jarvinen, 19 Freeman, 1 98 1). It seems that workers in the field were not satisfied with dental base analysis, probably because of anatomical unreliability, overlaps and similarities between individuals or impractibility of the measurements (Kim and Vietas, 1978).
