Abstract

Supraventricular arrhythmias represent a common group of rhythm disturbances including rhythms emanating from the sinus node, atrial tissue (atrial flutter), Junctional/reciprocating or accessory pathway-mediated tachycardia.13 Narrow QRS supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) types can be differentiated by standard 12-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) criteria. 25 Previous studies have shown that only 80% of narrow QRS supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) types can be differentiated by standard 12-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) criteria. 25 Several new ECG criteria may be useful in differentiation of SVT types. 25 Prediction of mechanism prior to EPS may provide additional benefits concerning the fluoroscopic exposure time and cardiac catheterization procedure.25 The current study was done to evaluate the usefulness of the ST-segment elevation in lead aVR during tachycardia for determining the mechanism of narrow QRS complex tachycardia as a way for Prediction of mechanism of the SVT prior to EPS. The current study was conducted on 60 patients presenting to the Cardiology department at Ain Shams University Hospitals to undergo electrophysiologic study and having narrow QRS complex supraventricular tachyarrhythmia.
