Abstract Exposure of plants to the environmental stresses such as high temperature, salt, drought ... etc. can reduce their capacities for growth and enhance the sensecence of plants. Plants differ in their resistance to the environmenal stresses because of differences in phenological, morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular adaptive mechanisms. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different amino acids (serin.e, glycine and glutamic acid) and sugars (glucose and sucrose) alone or supplemented with kinetin on delaying senescence of excied wheat leaves, as well as on the biochemical changes which occur during the senescence preiod. Wheat (Triticum aestivum] grains were germinated and grown in boxes filled with acid prewashed sand for 14 days in growth chamber under controlled temperature and light intensity. |
