Abstract The last fifteen years have witnessed major advance in the diagnosis and management or pituitary tumours, the neuroradiological evaluation using Radioimmunoassay of the anterior pituitary hormones, the use of interoperative MRI and Neuronavigation had added a new dimension to management of pituitary tumours. Over period of two years, a combined retrospective and prospective study have. been conducted to 60 patients with pituitary adenomas; 40 of them has been managed to Ain Shams University Hospital. The other 20 patients had been admitted and managed at Philips University, Germany. There were 22 male and 38 females, the patients aged ranged from 21 to 60, with mean age of 40 years. Pituitary adenomas has been classified according to the hormone they produce into: 27 prolactin secreting adenoma 13 growth hormone secreting adenoma 2 ACTE hormone secreting adenoma 18 Non functioning adenomas. |
