المستخلص

It is known that varicocele is an important cause of male ihfertility. Varicocele is a pathological alteration in the venous circulation of the testes, causes quantitative and/or qualitative dys-spermatogenesis, characterized by a reduction in sperm motility and an increased percentage of tapered or amorphous spermatozoa .
A high proportion of morphologically abnormal spermatozoa has been reported to be associated with an increased heterogeneity of chromatin structure in infertile men with varicocele, and • convinced a significant relationship between sperm morphology, fertilization and pregnancy rates. The aim of this work was to assess the sperm chromatin condensation in infertile men with varicocele as compared to the normal fertile control group . Assessment of the sperm chromatin condensation was done as well to patients after varicocelectomy.
This study was carried out on 30 subjects , twenty infertile patients with varicocele , and ten fertile men as a control group. All patients and control group were subjected to full history taking , careful general physical and local genital examination , semen analysis , sperm chromatin condensation assessment using aniline blue dye , and sperm morphology assessment using shorr stain .
