Abstract

Only 20-30% of patients with deep venous thrombosis manifested by symptoms and physical signs: pain, swelling with pitting edema, calf tenderness and Homan’s sign. While 70% of patients manifested only by one sign of classical signs or may be a symptomatic.
The sequelae of deep vein thrombosis vary from complete resolution of the clot without any ill effects through to death due to pulmonary embolism. Morbidity due to deep vein thrombosis includes post- thrombotic syndrome, encompassing chronic venous hypertension causing limb pain, swelling, hyper-pigmentation, dermatitis, ulcers, venous gangrene, and lipodermatosclerosis.
