Abstract Closed reduction and placement of a well molded hip spica cast is a safe and reliable treatment option for isolated, closed femoral in fractures in children from birth to 10 years of age shortening at the fracture loss of reduction and angulation at the fracture site are potential complication. Traction followed by casting is indicated as a primary treatment for patients under age of 6 years with unstable femoral fractures, or as secondary treatment after failure to maintain proper length and alignment in spica cast in a child less than 6 years of age. |
