Abstract

Dislocation after total hip arthroplasty is a disturbing problem for both patient and surgeon. Despite innovations in surgical approach, surgical technique, and implant design, dislocation have not been eliminated. It remains one of the most frequent reasons for reoperation after total hip arthroplasty. When a reoperation is performed to correct recurrent dislocation, the reported failure rate is higher than for any other indication for revision surgery, including infection.
