Abstract

In forensic work, organ weights play an important role, as it can be used as an indicatory for the state of health and disease of the cadaver. Also, from weigh of one organ, it is possible to predict the total body weight, height and weight of other different organs. Thus, it is a routine work in forensic autopsy to weigh organs with a digital scale.
Organs weights and body dimensions are affected by different social and individual habits, as will as by the climatic conditions and gender of the patient. Thus, it is wise that each country establish its own tables for different body measurements.
Although the data of the present study documents the validity of different measurements obtained from other parts of the world as it shows that the results were near that reported from every where in the world, one restriction is that in included small number of cases compared with other studies and this small number may affect the usage of its results as a reference range.
It can be said that this study is a starting point in a survey (for example) including other parts of Egypt and the final data collected from all centers will be then the best reference.
