Abstract study included 17 males and 3 females with endoscopically diagnosed duodenal ulcer. All the patients received cimetidine in a dose of 800 mg./day for one month. None of these subjects was on any medications known or suspected to affect lipids and lipoproteins serum profile and none of them had had cimetidine before. The following investigations were performed for the patients before and one month after treatment with cimetidine. 1) Quantification of serum levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol. 2) Estimation of serum levels of : Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL_c) High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL_c) J) Determination of ser~ levels of apolipoprotein A. apolipoprotein A1 and apolip~protein B. with conse_ quent calculation of apo A/ Apo B ratio.
